Application Deadline FAQs


As families complete their applications, they may have questions about the receipt of forms or transcripts. Below are answers to some common questions we receive at Ravenna.

Q: The school’s application deadline is almost here and it doesn’t look like my report cards are in yet. What should I do?

A: If you believe that records have already been submitted but do not see this information reflected in your application after two weeks we recommend that you contact the school directly for more information. Occasionally records may be accidentally overlooked or processed incorrectly, but only the school can reconcile this information with you. 

Each school sets its own policies regarding deadlines for report cards. Many do not require report cards to be received by the deadline, but some do. Check to see if the school provides any information about this in their application steps. If not, contact the school directly and ask about their policy.

If your current school is submitting report cards electronically and does not see your applicant in their list of students applying through Ravenna, please read our help article on uploading report cards.

Note: A school will not get access to your report cards until you have formally applied. If your report cards were sent in but you are waiting to submit your application because you are polishing essays, etc. the school will gain access to your report cards as soon as you apply.

Q: My teacher evaluation steps are not marked complete. What should I do?

A: If your teacher submits evaluations electronically, you can monitor the status of submission. If the recommendation form has not been submitted online, you can resend the request to the teacher. Remember that if you are submitting a common teacher evaluation form to multiple schools that accept the same form, you must specify each school the evaluation is to be sent to (that is, teacher evaluations are not automatically sent to all schools). 

If the form shows as submitted in the application but has not been marked complete, please contact the school directly. If your teacher has submitted your evaluation on paper, please allow extra time for the school to process the form

Q: All of my application steps have green check marks but my application is not marked as Complete. Am I missing something?

A: As the application deadline approaches you are likely asking, "Am I Done?" Marking an application complete is not automated. Many schools like to review your application one final time before changing your application status to complete. Because of the large volume of applications completed around application deadlines please allow schools time to do their reviews.

Q: I’m applying to multiple schools in Ravenna. I see that one school has marked a form received but another school who is receiving the same form has not. Why?

A: Common forms (such as common parent essays, student essays) are automatically available to all schools who choose to use that form as soon as it is submitted. Each school, however, reviews the forms before acknowledging them and marks the application step complete (with a green check mark). As a result, you will likely see steps marked complete at different times. And remember, common teacher evaluations are not shared automatically. Families may choose to submit to multiple schools they are applying to if the schools accept the same common form. 

Report cards sent to Ravenna are automatically displayed to all Ravenna schools where you have submitted a preliminary application and paid the application fee. Again, each school reviews these reports and acknowledges receipt
